MTG completed the acquisition of 100% of AS Latvijas Neatkarīgā Televīzija – the country’s second largest free-TV operator, broadcasting the national channel LNT, the Russian language channel TV5 and the entertainment channel Kanals 2 – in June 2012.
LNT broadcasts a broad line-up of entertainment and news programming aimed at the 35-65 age group.
The channel’s story begins in 1992 when NTV5 launched the Latvia’s first independent news programme. Two years later, the entertainment channel Picca TV is launched. In 1996, the channels unite forces under a new name – LNT – and a new private national channel is born, soon becoming a leader in Latvia’s commercial TV market.
