At MTG we love to work hard, but value equally the value of play. That’s why in 2010 we founded MTG United for Peace, a charity that helps children from all walks of life play their way to a brighter future, using a language we can all speak – football.
Everyone has conflict in their lives, whether minor or life-changing. And it will take tolerance, commitment and a large dose of creativity for future generations to deal with the challenges that lay ahead. MTG United for Peace is committed to preparing the new generation for these challenges by building bridges between children of different nationalities, ethnic origins, religions and cultures, so they can face the future together in peace and with respect and tolerance.
Football is the perfect example of how to work together in a peaceful manner; to share a set of rules, solve conflicts on the pitch as well as having a great time and make new friends. No matter where you are from or who you are, in football it’s all about spirit, passion and being a team player. Nothing else matters.
The format is simple. Local tournaments take place in our operating markets and the winning team from each local tournament represents their country at the MTG United for Peace Cup Final in Oslo in October each year.
It is no coincidence that the finals coincide with the announcement of the Nobel Peace Prize winner. In cooperation with our partner the Nobel Peace Center in Oslo, all children have the unique opportunity to take part in the interactive “School of Tolerance”, learning about cultural understanding, integration and conflict resolution.
